GETTYSBURG — Prosecutors said they plan to seek the death penalty in the case of a central Pennsylvania man accused of killing a game warden during a poaching investigation.

Christopher Lynn Johnson, 27, is charged with the November shooting death of Wildlife Conservation Officer David Grove outside Gettysburg.

Johnson pleaded not guilty on Friday in Adams County Court. His trial is tentatively scheduled for June 6.

District Attorney Shawn Wagner said Friday that he will pursue the death penalty if Johnson is convicted of first-degree murder.

Grove was patrolling on his own along a dark stretch of rural road when authorities said he confronted a poacher who shot him four times.
