William E. Hetrick
In loving memory of my beloved brother, William E. Hetrick, who passed away five years, September 10, 2006.
Five years have sped by when with a whisper, a September night dissipated into another sunrise and your courageous battle ended and a new day started. I knew this day would change our lives forever, as I closed your beautiful sparkling blue eyes for the last time. Your earthly visions ended but your Heavenly ones were just beginning.
My only brother, Billy, was gone. I was once that irritating “little sister”, but as life progressed, we began to learn what mattered, didn’t matter and found that differences didn’t matter. Love mattered, since as siblings we shared a bond of memories, of family, of love.
Benny still misses the silly jokes and pranks you two plotted and especially the scrutinizing, challenges and discussions relative to Pirates/Steelers games.
You left us with fantastic gifts; your children and grandchildren to carry on in your absence. Since your demise, God has blessed our family with the fourth “William Hetrick” your new grandson. He possesses many characteristics of Daddy, you and your son.
Now you have all of my birth family with you in Heaven since our sister joined you there last year. It’s exceptionally difficult to be the last one to be left here, but the endless memories you all filled my heart with, make even the saddest of days easier to endure. It’s the same heart that tells me you are resting in the peace you are so deserving of in the wonders of Heaven.
I often see you and those beautiful sparkling blue eyes in my dreams. The day will come when we will all be reunited, but until then, I thank God for sending you back to me if only for a short while.
You mattered and always will.
Semper Fi, my Brother
