East Brady service gets grant for ambulance

EAST BRADY — The East Brady Ambulance Service will use a $155,000 federal grant to buy a new ambulance.

“With the summer months coming, the time has come to replace our current ambulance, which is over 12 years old and has traveled nearly 130,000 miles,” said Jennifer Switzer, president of the ambulance service, in a news release.

The grant was announced today in the release by both U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., and U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-3rd.

They both pointed out that the ambulance service assists rural communities in Clarion County and is the only ambulance available within 15 minutes of any direction of East Brady. Also, it often aids with boating accidents on the Allegheny River.

The grant comes from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
