Barbara Susan (Pishioneri) Porter

Barbara Susan (Pishioneri) Porter, 75, passed away on April 5, 2021, in Monroeville.

She was the wife of the late Bradley Porter, and the loving mother (aka “Ma”) of Tim (Deborah) and Jill (Carlton “Joe”).

She was also the cherished grandmother of Chelsie, Bradley (Kelsey), Trenton (Aubri) and Kyra; and the lucky great-grandmother of Faye Christine and an additional great-grandchild still in the works.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Bradley Porter; her parents, Frank and Hilda (Sabesta) Pishioneri; and her sister, Karen (Pishioneri) Pascarella.

Barbara was born in Ellwood City, surrounded by the numerous Pishioneri aunts, uncles and cousins that formed her extended family. She lived for many years on the Porter family farm in Slippery Rock.

She was a longtime employee at Slippery Rock University, holding positions in various departments over her 30-plus- year career.

Barbara loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking, entertaining her friends and family, sharing a laugh over an adult beverage, celebrating holidays and special occasions with lots of food, family and friends, watching Pittsburgh sports and basketball, and traveling.

Later in life, Barbara fought a long battle with Alzheimer's, and moved with her sweet dog, Lex, to Monroeville, where she was well cared for by the wonderful staff, and surrounded by the many friendly residents at Harbour Senior Living of Monroeville, as well as Bridges Hospice Inc., who enjoyed her caring nature, spunky spirit and welcoming smile.

Barbara was one of a kind, and will be greatly missed. (Please note: A more colorful version of her obituary was considered. However, it was ultimately decided to keep it clean, and those of you who know all the stories can chuckle to yourselves.)
