Mary Krewduk’s penchant for serving others has earned her the top annual designation in the GFWC Junior Women’s Club of Butler.

Krewduk, of Center Township, was voted Junior Woman of the Year by her fellow club members. She received the designation at the club’s closing meeting in May, when she also was installed as club president for the upcoming year.

“I feel honored and I am just so blessed to be surrounded by the women of that particular club,” Krewduk said on Thursday.

Krewduk, who is the fundraising and communications specialist at The Arc of Butler County, said she joined the GFWC Junior Women’s Club of Butler four years ago when club members were volunteering at an Arc event.

“That’s how I found out about the club,” she said. “I joined to get more involved in the Butler community and meet other women the same age as I am who want to do good work for our community.”

Courtney Shields, outgoing GFWC Junior Women’s Club of Butler president, said Krewduk is always thinking of new project ideas and ways the club members can help out in the county.

“And she doesn’t stop there,” Shields said. “She participates in every volunteer and social event and is the first to offer a helping hand when needed.”

She said Junior Woman of the Year nomination forms described Krewduk as kind, selfless, patient, supportive, attentive and approachable.

“She has a giving spirit and is gracious with her time and heart, and does so humbly,” Shields said.

She said Krewduk is always willing to step up and take on additional roles and responsibilities within the club without hesitation.

“I have had the great opportunity of working very closely with her and have no doubt that she will be a phenomenal leader for this club moving forward,” Shields said.

Over the past year, Krewduk reached out to the Butler Area Public Library and The Arc of Butler County to coordinate volunteer programs for the club at those nonprofit organizations.

She also was instrumental in organizing the Polar Express event in the winter at Memorial Park, and another event that raised $10,000 for the service organizations supported by the club.

Shields is thrilled that Krewduk received the Junior Woman of the Year award in 2022.

“She is a perfect example of the volunteer spirit and I truly cannot imagine a more deserving person for this award,” Shields said.
