Wreck this morning briefly closes Rt. 8

BRADY TWP — Route 8 north of Staff Road in Brady Township was reopened shorty after 6 a.m. today after it was closed for about an hour following a head-on crash, authorities said.

Three people in two cars suffered minor to moderate injuries in the wreck that left one person entrapped, said Chief Nathan Wulff of the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department.

“We popped the door open to get (the trapped motorist) out,” Wulff said.

Butler Ambulance Service and Slippery Rock Ambulance crews treated the injured, all who were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. Their conditions were not known.

State police are investigating but an accident report was not immediately available. Rescue crews reported there was a layer of slush on the highway, but it was not known if that was a factor in the crash.

The West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Departments assisted in traffic control.
