Anna Beck “Becky Marie”
BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE
In memory of Anna Beck “Becky Marie”
By Kellie L. Hertz
I remember how we used to say
As we sprang out of bed
“Mom said you don’t have to work –
You’re to play with us instead” ...
From icy sled rides to
Long summer walks
From dolls and dishes to
Teenage pep talks . . .
Sandwiches cut into perfect squares
Old Maid cards lined up in pairs . . .
A bowl to cut my growing hair
A kiss on the cheek
Wounds bandaged with care . . .
Watermelon cut and already deseeded
That stern look we knew must always be heeded . . .
Deep in our memories
Each one of us holds
Some reminiscent
Some stories untold . . .
A phrase we all say
“A second Mother to me”
As we fondly remember . . .
Our “Becky Marie”
The Dreher Kids
