The Performing Arts Series will present “From Butler to Barrow” led by Alaska's fiddling poet Ken Waldman with guest artists Ernie Hawkins, Emily Pinkerton and Mark Tamsula on Feb. 4 in the Succop Theater.

Nanette Kaplan Solomon, SRU professor of music, will perform a “Women do the Chopin/Liszt” piano recital of 19th-, 20th- and 21st-century music, including works by a number of women composers, at 4 p.m. Jan. 29 in Swope Recital Hall. Admission is free.

“Intimate Science,” pieces from artists working at the intersection of art, science and technology, will be on view Saturday through March 4 at the Miller Gallery in the Purnell Center for the Arts, 5000 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh.Gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays.
