Allow teens to make health care decisions? Really?

It is hard to imagine what job classification would come in second if the public were to vote on what job is accomplished with the poorest results.

Maybe run the Pirates, the turnpike or the state liquor control board?

But first prize would most certainly fall to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and all the ridiculous antics they have been responsible for during the past 10 years.

There are certainly a few that haven’t had crazy moments where they rambled nonsensically about another member touching their arm or getting caught placing family members or campaign supporters on choice, paid boards as rewards for helping them get elected.

But if you were going to pick a subject on Aug. 30, 2021, to make a complete fool of yourself about, it would probably be to announce that you want to take the responsibility for teenagers’ health decisions out of the parents’ hands and allow the teenagers to make decisions themselves, such as to have vaccinations on their own without parental consent.

Well, why stop there? Don’t forget joining the military, having an abortion, buying and consuming alcohol and purchasing guns and drugs.

Why not just outlaw parents? It seems that is where Rep. Dan Frankel is headed. It seems he must believe his three children would be more capable than he is about making decisions for them. That might be true, because he represents Squirrel Hill, and there is probably no shortage of nuts there for the squirrels. He also represents Oakland with the zoo. Plenty of monkey business and animal activity.

Frankel is the Democratic chairman for the state health committee. Maybe the mental health committee should have their own representation apart from general health.

This is maybe the most irresponsible comment ever made by a representative not named Daryl. Is it possible that he misspoke or he was overcome with heat exhaustion and wasn’t thinking clearly?

He wants teenagers, who are known to be the worst decision-makers of any age bracket, to make their own health care decisions. If someone has to, it would apparently be better to have a teenager do it than the person elected to represent the 23rd District in Pennsylvania.

As the line goes in the film, “A League of Their Own,” Mr. Frankel, “like your candy bars, you’re completely ... nuts.”

Do you suppose that even his own mother agreed with him on this one?

Say hello to Parent of the Year 2021 Rep. Daniel Frankel. God help the kids of the 23rd district.
