Ina Elizabeth (Betty) Himes, 85, of Grove City, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with breast cancer.

Betty was born Aug. 6, 1936, in Grove City, the daughter to the late John and Ina (Eaton) Wallwork.

She was a graduate of Grove City High School, class of 1954.

Betty married Donald Himes on June 9, 1956. They had recently celebrated their 66th anniversary.

Betty previously worked at Montgomery Ward and as custodian for her church. She was very involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives, serving as a leader in the Scouts and as band mom. She was a previous member of the White Shrine 53, Eastern Star of Grove City and the Grove City Bowling League.

Betty was a member of Christ Covenant Church in Harrisville. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and she was anticipating the birth of her first great-grandson.

Surviving is her husband, Donald, at home; a daughter, Dana (Steven) Roman of Harrisville; a son, Timothy (Geri) Himes of Titusville; granddaughters, Kaylyn Heckathron and Cheyanne Rasp; step-grandchildren, Angela Simmer, Scott Roman, Linsey Stearns and Dan Stearns; six step great-grandchildren; five step great-great- grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Etta Elliott, of Butler.

Betty was welcomed into heaven by her parents.

The family would like to thank the staff of AHN Hospice for their care and assistance during Betty’s final days. She touched the lives of so many with her love and kindness. We will miss her so much!

HIMES — The family of Ina Elizabeth (Betty) Himes, who died Wednesday, June 15, 2022, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the JAMISON MCKINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 117 North Main St., Harrisville.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Terry West officiating.
