Cranberry to have Sept. 11 memorial
CRANBERRY TWP — The township will have a public safety service Wednesday morning to honor the first responders and the victims who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The event will be at the Park Fire Station memorial on Route 19.
Firefighter John Pristas will play taps at these times:
• 8:46 a.m. — That is when the World Trade Center’s North Tower was hit by American Airlines Flight 11.
• 9:03 a.m. — When WTC South Tower was hit by United Airlines Flight 175.
• 9:37 a.m. — When United Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon.
• 9:59 a.m. — When the South Tower of the WTC collapses.
• 10:07 a.m. — When United Airlines Flight 93 crashes just outside of Somerset, Pa.
• 10:28 a.m. — When the North Tower of the WTC collapses.
The township volunteer fire company will raise the American flag from its tower fire truck at 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Last year, the fire company dedicated the permanent 9/11 Memorial in front of its Park Station.
