The Karns City High School Alumni Association recently held its annual reunion with more than 250 alumni representing classes from 1930 to 1960. Special recognition was given to

Twila Ellis, who graduated in 1930, and

Claire Thompson, who graduated in 1933.———Walkers braved the rain May 22 to walk in

Lifesteps' inaugural Step Out for Lifesteps event held simultaneously in four counties.Proceeds benefited Lifesteps' Family Caring Fund. The Butler County location was Seneca Valley High School. Other counties were Indiana, Armstrong and Washington.———Contestants in the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant will compete June 19 at the Syria Mosque.The winner then goes to Las Vegas in January for Miss America.Contestants include

Victoria Mysliwiec, Miss Butler County;

Kristina Miller, Miss Moraine State; and

Elyse Healey, Miss Mercer County.The Miss Pennsylvania Outstanding Teen Contest will be held Friday at the Syria Mosque.Contestants include

Shannon McCarren, Miss Butler County Outstanding Teen;

Kaitlynne Kline, Miss Moraine State Outstanding Teen; and

Clare Stevenson, Miss Western Pennsylvania Outstanding Teen.The winner will go to Orlando, Fla, for the Miss America Outstanding Teen contest.———

Lewis Piper Jr. of Butler competed April 16 to 18 in the 2010 Wine Maker International Wine Competition at the Equinox Resort in Manchester, Vt. Piper won the gold medal in the berry fruit category for his 100 percent black raspberry wine.This year's competition was billed as the largest wine competition of its kind in the world.Hobby winemakers from around the world entered 4,508 entries in 50 categories. Judging panels worked through 798 flights, examining each wine using the UC Davis 20 point wine scale to evaluate appearance, aroma, taste, aftertaste and overall impression.———On June 3, the winners at the Butler Duplicate Bridge Club were:First:
