Mary Louise Peterman

Mary Louise Peterman, 94, of Renfrew, passed away Friday at the Lowrie House.

She was born March 6, 1923, in Wheeling, W.Va., to the late Henry F. Essig and the late Carrie (Waltenbaugh) Essig.

She worked as a retail clerk at Montgomery Ward, Murphy Mart and Ames.

Mary was a former member of the First English Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.

Mary is survived by one son, John H. Peterman and his wife, Karen, of Renfrew; one daughter, Janet Peterman Frazier and her husband, Jack, of Crossville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Diane Frazier and her husband, Jeff Geeter, Kimberly Gold and her husband, Bob, John Peterman Jr., Bryan Peterman and his wife, Mindy, Shelley Winters and her husband, Chuck, Amy Maynard and her husband, Alan, and Tanya Waterman and her husband, Ben Waterman; her 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon L. Peterman Sr., whom she married on April 17, 1938, and who passed away on Feb. 13, 2011; one son, Vernon L. Peterman Jr.; two sisters, Helen Schall and Freida Farr; and one brother, Henry “Frank” Essig Jr.

PETERMAN — Friends of Mary Louise Peterman, who died Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m., Monday, at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St, Butler, with Pastor Kimberly van Driel of First English Lutheran Church, officiating.Private burial will take place in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your church or favorite charity.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
