Karns City to gather more information before making changes
KARNS CITY — The Karns City School District will gather more information before voting on changes to its elementary schools, including closing Bruin Elementary School.
By law, the board is banned from voting on the district consolidation plan until February. However, the school board Thursday night did not agree on when a vote would occur.
At its January 2011 meeting, the board will meet with a consultant to determine whether a feasibility study or other work can provide them with data to help in their decision-making process.
The board also will review busing calculations to determine how to pool bus stops so the majority of students are on a bus for less than 60 minutes.
And board members will review class sizes by school to see whether they will be larger than the district’s own caps.
