John Harvey Barron
John Harvey Barron, 80, of Slippery Rock, Butler County, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born March 24, 1934, in Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, to the late John Hockenberry Barron and Maybelle Coyer Barron.
He married Beverly Florence Mackey June 7, 1957.
He was a retired carpenter, working more than 30 years in construction with Local 2274 of Pittsburgh where his work was primarily on bridges and highways.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. and he was assistant chief of the Slippery Rock Fire Company for many years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Most important to him was caring and being with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly F. Barron, at home in Slippery Rock; his son, Daniel J. Barron and his wife, Beverly A., of Slippery Rock; his three daughters, Julie A. Barron O'Connor and her husband, Tom, of East Norriton, Brenda L. Snider of Grove City and Madelyn “Maddy” Coon and her husband, Richard, of Grove City; his five grandchildren, Amanda Barron, Christopher “Boomer” Barron, Kayla Bice, Tyler Snider and Zachery O'Connor; and his five great-grandchildren, Autumn, Anna, Serenity, Connor and Logan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ike and Paul, and his two sisters, Patricia Redmond and Esther West.
Barron— The family of John Harvey Barron, who passed away Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Friday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock, with his great-nephew, the Rev.
