Ruth M. Sitterley

Ruth M. Sitterley, 87, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of Butler, passed away on Jan. 9 at the Villa Rancho Bernardo Care Center in California.

She was born May 9, 1930, in Roanoke, Va., and was a daughter of the late Charles Gray and Elizabeth Hagee Gray.

Mrs. Sitterley was a homemaker and was co-owner and operator with her husband of a retail business selling honey products.

She was a member of the New Testament Baptist Church in Butler.

Mrs. Sitterley is survived by one son, Harold (Carol) Sitterley Jr. of Hartsville, S.C.; two daughters, Judy (Steve) Bates of San Diego, Calif., and Debbie (Don) Langager of Vista, Calif.; six grandchildren, Tammy Bowser, William Bowser, Kevin James Croman, Tracy Croman Knepple, Ryan Bates and Derek Bates; and six great-grandchildren, Shawn Bowser, Sydney Bowser, Jacob Knepple, Nathan Knepple, Dylan Knepple and Logan Bowser.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Sitterley Sr., whom she married Jan. 6, 1948, and who passed away Oct. 10, 2003; a grandson, Richard Dale Bowser; and her five brothers and four sisters.

SITTERLEY — Friends of Ruth M. Sitterley, who died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
