Macoskey Center hosting nature-focused summer camps

Slippery Rock University's Macoskey Center for Sustainability Education and Research and the Storm Harbor Equestrian Center are hosting various summer day camps for children ages 7 to 12 this summer.

The center is hosting four sets of three-day camps from 8 a.m. until noon from June 27 to 29, July 11 to 13, July 25 to 27 and Aug. 8 to 10. There are also separate daylong camps from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on July 18 and Aug. 1, where kids spend the mornings with horses at Storm Harbor and the afternoon exploring the grounds at the Macoskey Center, according to a news release from SRU.

The Macoskey Center consists of the education center, barn, gardens and hiking trails on an 83-acre homestead at 247 Harmony Road, Slippery Rock.

The cost is $90 per camper for each camp, both the three-day sessions and the daylong camps, with family discounts for siblings. For more information, contact the center by calling 724-738-4050 or emailing macoskey.center@sru.edu.
