Mary Ann Augustine, 58, of Chicora, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022, in her home after a long and courageous battle with Huntington’s disease.

Mary Ann was born Dec. 10, 1963, and grew up in Monroeville. She was the daughter of the late Donald and Mary Gresco.

Mary Ann was especially proud of her career in nursing and anesthesia. She attended West Penn School of Nursing and is survived by some lifelong and loyal friends from there. She earned her BSN at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with high honors while working as a nurse at Presbyterian Hospital. She went on to earn a nurse anesthetist degree at the University Health Center of Pittsburgh School of Anesthesia for Nurses. Mary Ann practiced anesthesia for more than 20 years at several local hospitals with the majority of that time spent at Shadyside Hospital of Pittsburgh. She derived much satisfaction from her work and was very happy to be able to help people.

Mary Ann was a lifelong athlete and went to the state championships for cross country and track while attending Gateway High School. She maintained her fitness routines and her love of sports throughout her life. She also enjoyed traveling, being outdoors and taking care of her pets.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Augustine; two brothers, John and Bill (Nancy) Gresco; and her nieces and nephew.

Mary Ann was a very smart, strong, capable and reliable person, and she will be greatly missed.

AUGUSTINE — Friends and relatives of Mary Ann Augustine, who died Sunday, June 12, 2022, are invited to attend visitation from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Friday at ADAM SIEMIANOWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 179 Starr Road, Russellton.

A Christian funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Lakes, Transfiguration Campus, Russellton.

Mary Ann will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazier.
