Willis Stoops
Willis “LeRoy” Stoops, 77, of Harmony passed away at his home Monday, Dec. 14, 2020.
He was born March 14, 1943, in Ellwood City, to William and Margaret (Cross) Stoops.
LeRoy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961, and served in both the U.S. Navy (1961-1965) and the U.S. Air Force (1970-1974). During his military service, he lived in various cities across the United States, but settled back in Pennsylvania.He worked for Inmetco in Ellwood City, for 29 years, until he retired in 2008.He was a man with a strong work ethic, which he instilled in his children and grandchildren.LeRoy will be remembered for his teasing jokes and his love for “smiley faces.” He also loved bowling, playing cards and helping out when needed. He was a very giving person, and volunteered at places such as the Evans City Senior Center and Camp Kon-O-Kwee.LeRoy had a big heart, and was loved dearly by his family and friends. He will be terribly missed.He is survived by his three children, Vernon (Krysta) Stoops of Harmony, William (Shelly) Stoops of Fombell, and Henry (Yvonne) Stoops of Harmony; and his grandchildren, Tiler Stoops and Logan Stoops.He is also survived by two brothers, Harry (Thuong) Stoops of Fombell, and Louis Stoops of Texas; and his first wife, Norma Jean (Miller) Stoops of Harmony.LeRoy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty; and his sister, Doris Schaefer.STOOPS — A private memorial service for Willis “LeRoy” Stoops, who died Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, will be held for his immediate family.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E.
