PORTERSVILLE — State police are seeking a man — disguised in an orange ski mask and carrying a camouflage duffel bag — who robbed a First National Bank branch in the middle of town this morning.

The first call authorities issued about 10:30 a.m. was that an armed robber had struck the bank on Route 19 and that his bag may contain a long gun.

The man, described as having a mustache, told a teller he had a rifle and demanded money.

Police did not immediately say if they had a suspect or if the robber got any money. No one was hurt.

The man reportedly drove away in a gold Toyota Corolla. The suspected getaway car was last seen traveling east on Route 488.

Police investigators converged on the bank, which immediately closed, and spoke to employees. Investigators also were checking all available video surveillance at the bank.

Troopers went to a number of nearby businesses that surround the bank to see if anyone saw or heard anything.

Some of those businesses were closed at the time of the robbery.

Workers at other stores, including Cal’s General Store on one side, and a dental office on the other, did not know the bank had been robbed until they saw police cars.
