BUTLER TWP — Township officials are looking for a new zoning office.

That is because Cindy Davis, the current zoning officer, resigned her position Monday.

Davis told the township commissioners Monday night that she has accepted a job with the state of Virginia.

The commissioners accepted her resignation and began the process of filling the vacancy by approving advertising for applicants.

Davis began working for the township as a secretary while educating herself about zoning and code enforcement. After six years, she left to work in Allegheny County as a code enforcement officer for 13 years.

She returned to the township six years ago when zoning officer John Stokes retired.

Davis starts work in Virginia in mid-March.
