George W. Compton
George W. Compton, 76, of Pine Road, Karns City, passed away Tuesday evening at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler.
George was born June 13, 1939, in New Jersey. He was the son of Daniel A. and Mildred Compton.
He was a graduate of Butler High School. George enjoyed bike riding on the trails, hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, gambling, taking painting classes at Slippery Rock University and listening to 1950s music. George delivered Meals on Wheels in Chicora.
Mr. Compton had been employed by ARMCO in Butler and retired in 1995.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Shepard Compton. He is survived by his longtime friends and caregivers, Robert and Debbie Dunkle of Karns City; two daughters, Debbie Compton and Cheri McGregor and her husband, Robert, all of Butler; his grandson, Bill McGregor; his stepson, Matt Shepard; and his siblings, John R. Compton and his wife, Judith, and Mary Green and her husband, Patrick; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, George; two brothers, Daniel and Thomas; and his grandson, Dustin McGregor.
COMPTON — Friends of George W. Compton, who died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City.A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev.
