Police detain man wanted for questioning in death of Pa. Game Commission officer

FAIRFIELD Police have detained a man sought for questioning in the fatal shooting of a Pennsylvania Game Commission officer.

Troopers detained 27-year-old Christopher Lynn Johnson about 9:30 a.m. today, about 11 hours after 31-year-old Wildlife Conservation Officer David Grove was shot and killed in Freedom Township, near Gettysburg.

State police Trooper Tom Pinkerton says officers found Johnson in nearby Franklin Township. No other information was immediately available.

Game commission officials say Grove was investigating possible poaching and nighttime hunting when he was killed. Commission spokesman Jerry Feaser declined to reveal any more details on the shooting.

A game commission officer was last shot and killed in the line of duty in 1915.
