Fire damages Buffalo Twp. pool house

BUFFALO TWP — A fire at a pool house on Sarver Road today did some damage to the building.

Clarence Negley was cutting grass in his yard at 681 Sarver Road about 11:32 a.m. when he saw smoke coming from the back of his home.

"There was an electrical problem with the breaker in the pool room, which started a fire in the wall behind it," said Gary Risch Jr., assistant chief with the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Risch said breaking through the stucco outside the wall was "tricky, but (the fire) wasn't much of a problem once we got into it."

Just the one wall was damaged.

Volunteer fire departments from Sarver and Saxonburg also responded, with assistance from Saxonburg Ambulance and Allegheny Power.

"These guys were right on the ball," Negley said. "I'm glad they got it out before it got to the main structure."

Negley said he is the only one living in the two-story home, which he built himself.
