Mystery Road
Each year, the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival attracts thousands of people to downtown Butler and to Cooper’s Lake Campground.
However, festival organizers also want them to explore Butler County, so several activities that Jeep owners can participate in are held off the festival grounds. Events like the Moraine Trail Ride, Historic Travels Tour and Glacial Interpretive Driving Tour enable participants to see the Jennings Environmental Education Center and Moraine and McConnells Mill state parks.
There is another event that can take their exploration to a whole new level.
The Mystery Road Rally uses a scavenger hunt format to direct participants along scenic roads to areas throughout the county. Participants answer trivia questions along the way. Scores are calculated, and Jeeps with the highest total points on each route win a plaque.
Rally organizers have created seven routes for this year’s festival that will take participants between 1½ to 2 hours to complete.
They will cover these areas:
• Route 1: Zelienople-Harmony
• Route 2: South Butler
• Route 3: Slippery Rock
• Route 4: Meridian
• Route 5: Downtown Butler
• Route 6: Saxonburg
• Route 7: Evans City
Nearly 500 Jeeps will participate in this activity, and registered participants receive a special rally decal for their Jeep.
Prizes will be awarded at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
