Middlesex fires secretary
MIDDLESEX TWP — The secretary to the township manager was fired Wednesday night by the township supervisors after mistakes were found in the township books during a routine audit.
The supervisors voted to terminate Linda Young, who had been employed at the township for 12 years.
Township manager Scot Fodi said after the meeting that “irregularities” were found in the township's finances by Maher Duessel accountants during their annual audit in early February.
Neither Fodi nor supervisors chairman Mark Vincent would elaborate on the situation, including which fund the irregularities are in.
Vincent said the township is waiting to receive bank statements and other documents to determine the exact amount of money that is missing.
Fodi said Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger's office has been notified of the situation.
Fodi said Young was suspended without pay on March 3, when the irregularities came to light.
The supervisors also voted to allow Fodi to hire a new secretary.
