VFD plans community day

NORTH WASHINGTON — The North Washington Volunteer Fire Department will host a community day from 11 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the rodeo grounds on Route 38.

The event recognizes the community for its support of the department. There will be a visit by STAT medevac, an inside look at the fire department apparatus and equipment, a structure fire simulator house, a vehicle rescue demonstration, identity kits for children, fire prevention information and activities, concession stands and more.

Rabies clinic slated Saturday

JEFFERSON TWP — There will be a rabies clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 148 Rockdale Road.

Pets should be at least 12 weeks old and in a carrier or on a leash. Paul Eismann will be the veterinarian on site.

Proceeds will benefit Hope House Ministries.

Library has new genealogy tool

CRANBERRY TWP — The Cranberry Public Library, 2525 Rochester Road, has a new resource for patrons to make tracing family trees easier.

Ancestry Library Edition, a Web-based reference, allows researchers to use a surname to explore family history. The tool searches millions of records, including some from as early as the 1400s.

Ancestry Library Edition is available at the library’s Internet stations.
