Rabies clinic, microchips offered

BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Humane Society and the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department will offer a rabies clinic from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Alameda Park office, 184 Alameda Park Road.

Pet microchips will be available. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the humane society.

Historical society sells Jeep book

“The First Jeep, Not All the Heroes Were on the Front Lines” by Paul Bruno is for sale at the Butler County Historical Society.

The book is the story of the American Bantam Car Co., which met the challenge to build the prototype in 49 days.

To buy the book, visit the Senator Walter Lowrie House, 123 W. Diamond St. (directly behind the Butler County courthouse) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays.

Lifesteps plans child screenings

Lifesteps’ will offer two Child Check free screenings in March:

9 a.m. to noon March 2, Butler YMCA, 339 N. Washington St.

9 a.m. to noon March 16, Lifesteps Butler County Program Center, 383 New Castle Road

A Child Check visit takes about 30 minutes to complete and the results are discussed immediately with the parents. The screening evaluates the child’s development in playing, talking, seeing, hearing, moving and thinking.

Divorce, custody seminar slated

A Families Forever seminar, offered by Lifesteps, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 14 at Lifesteps, 300 Stirling Village, Route 68.

Families Forever helps parents minimize the negative effects on children in divorce and/or custody situations.

Seniors for Safe Driving will host the following classes for those age 55 and older:

9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 16 and 17, Passavant Retirement Community, Zelienople

5:30 to 9 p.m. March 17 and 18, Kelly Chevrolet, Butler

8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 20, Butler Memorial Hospital

Seniors completing the course will pay 5 percent less for automobile insurance premiums for three years.

‘Superstar’ picked for school musical
