Today on your birthday, as you celebrate with Kansas, in Heaven, there is no birthday cake here, only memories and tears. Tears I’m told cleanse the soul, but after nine years the tears are still coming.

We thought our love was timeless, only to have it cut short. As I celebrate your birthday today, I only have “things” and memories. I find myself realizing that though you aren’t here, each “thing”, has a memory that makes me smile, proving that our love goes on. Once I gave you my heart only to have God take you to heaven and along with you went my heart, leaving behind a longing for you.

So, love of my life, Happy Birthday and next week Happy Anniversary. I will miss you until our hearts become one again.
