The free Outdoor Discovery series at Alameda Park, conducted by the Butler County Parks and Recreation Department, presents “Animal Architecture” at 6:30 p.m. today and “Venomous Snakes of Pa.” on Aug. 10 in the Carousel Shelter. Call 724-284-5383.

Nautical Nature, the pontoon boat at Moraine State Park, operates cruises on Lake Arthur at 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. For reservations, call 724-368-9185.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will offer a free prairie walk at 2 p.m. Sunday. Jennings is open regularly from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset.

Moraine State Park, Muddy Creek Township will host the Regatta at Lake Arthur on Saturday and Sunday, a star party at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at the bike rental parking lot on the North Shore and Watercolor Wednesdays painting class at 10 a.m. Aug. 16 starting from the McDanel’s Launch on the North Shore. McConnells Mill State Park, Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County off Route 422, hosts a Salamander Safari at 4 p.m. Aug. 11 (meet at the Hells Hollow Trail parking lot) and a volunteer work day Aug. 19. The mill is open 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily except closed Mondays. Tours are available at 1 and 2 p.m. Call 724 368-8811.
