Operation Christmas Child to hold event
The local Butler and Armstrong County branch of Operation Christmas Child, a charity that provides shoebox gifts and booklets about the meaning of Christmas to children across the world, will hold an event to raise awareness of the group’s efforts. The event is scheduled for June 25 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Cabot United Methodist Church.
Operation Christmas Child regional manager Lisa Levesque will share information with attendees on the impact the group has had so far.
“We want to get it out there more to the general public,” said Jane Woitas, Butler/Armstrong Area coordinator. “It is really (about) casting a vision for people to actually see and hear about the program.”
Last year, the Butler/Armstrong area packed 10,816 shoeboxes, she added. Collections for the project typically take place in November.
Both past volunteers and new and interested volunteers are free to attend.
