MIDDLESEX TWP — The fired township secretary faces four charges totaling 1,188 counts allegedly for stealing nearly a quarter-million dollars over seven years.

Linda A. Young, 50, of Mars, was suspended on March 3 after township officials discovered funds missing. Supervisors voted unanimously to terminate Young on March 16.

Young was employed as the township secretary at Middlesex for 12 years. She was charged on Wednesday by county detective Scott Roskovski, who had been conducting an investigation into the scheme.

Young was arraigned on Wednesday before District Judge Sue Haggerty and is free on $25,000 bail. She also waived the charges to court.

Her attorney, Charles Porter of Pittsburgh, did not return a call seeking comment.
