Robert Alan “Bob” Rajchel, 76, of Butler, passed away Monday morning, June 6, 2022, at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born March 12, 1946, in Butler, he was a son of the late Frank Rajchel and Ruth (Frye) Rajchel.

Bob graduated from Butler High School in 1963.

He was retired from the Armco/AK Steel Plant in Butler.

He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, American Legion Post 778 and The Italian Society of Butler.

Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren and putting artwork together from scratch. He enjoyed spending winters in Cocoa Beach, Fla., his time in East Brady, golfing and his pet squirrels.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret.

Bob’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Butler Ambulance Service, the staff at Butler Memorial Hospital emergency room, the ICU of Mercy Hospital and the 12th floor east staff.

Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy (Baldacci) Rajchel, whom he married April 14, 1969.

He is also survived by one son, Greg (Gina) Rajchel of Butler; one daughter, Renee (Paul) Ritchie of Butler; four grandchildren, Peyton and Sydney Rajchel, and Noah and Austin “AJ” Ritchie; one brother, Frank (Carole) Rajchel of Butler; one sister, Barbara Sinz of Florida; one brother-in-law, James (Marsha) Baldacci of North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Jackie Baldacci of North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

RAJCHEL — Family and friends of Robert Alan “Bob” Rajchel, who died Monday, June 6, 2022, will gather from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler.

Military honors will follow at the church and will be conducted by the VFW/American Legion Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to either the Butler Art Center, 344 S. Main St., Butler, PA 16001; the American Legion Post 778, 150 Legion Memorial Lane, Butler, PA 16001; or The Italian Society of Butler, 217 Hickory St., Butler, PA 16001.
