Josephine Ball

Josephine C. Ball, 94, of North Oakland, Chicora, died at 4:35 a.m. Sunday in the VNA Hospice, Butler.

She was born in Donegal Township, Oct. 2, 1917, the daughter of the late George C. Ball and Elizabeth Waltman Geibel.

She was the oldest living member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, North Oakland, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. She also was a member of the Chicora Women of Moose.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Ball, who she married Sept. 26, 1946, and who died July 23, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Anthony Geibel, Vincent “Mike” Geibel, Lester Geibel, Augustus Geibel, Earl Geibel and George Geibel; and sisters, Rosalie Price, Marie Rodgers, Mildred Anderson and Elizabeth Steiner.

Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Luchkiw and her husband, Robert, of Petrolia; sons, Thomas Ball and his wife, Alice, of Chicora and George Ball of Chicora; granddaughters, Keri Ball, Janeen (Jim) Beatty and Jolienne (Kevin) Himes; great-grandchildren, Aubrie Ball, Ava Ball, Halle Beatty, Guerrin Beatty, Cameron Himes and Addison Himes; sisters-in-law, Mary Geibel of Rattigan, Chicora, and Shirley Geibel of Fairview Township, Petrolia; and several nieces and nephews.

BALL — Friends of Josephine C. Ball, who died Sunday, July 15, 2012, will be received at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, Corner of East Slippery Rock and Main Streets, downtown Chicora, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A funeral Mass and celebration of her life will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Depaul Ripko, O.F.M. Cap., the Rev. William Ritzert and the Rev. Joseph Pudichery officiating.
