Robert Luchkiw
Robert Luchkiw, 89, of Butler passed away Saturday at the VA Community Living Center in Butler.
Born July 29, 1929, in Lyndora, he was a son of the late Wasyl and Helen Luchkiw.
He worked for Pullman Standard Car Co. for more than 30 years, until its closing. He then worked for the Whitestown Village Apartments for nine years, doing maintenance.
He was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, where he worked the fish fries during Lent.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War.
He was also a member of the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.
Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons: Robert A. (Marcia) Luchkiw of Ravena, N.Y., and Jeffrey L. Luchkiw of Tennessee; two daughters: Debra (John) Wilson of Butler and Lisa (Paul) Scolieri of Cranberry Township; grandchildren: J.T. (Cheryle), Chris (Julie), Jeremy (Kristin), Rachelle (Will), Jordan (Emily), Evan, Matt, Kyler and Noelle; and great-grandchildren: Riley, Haylee, Braylen, Ian, Gavin, Owen, Leighila, Greyson and Adeliyn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Marie Rodgers Luchkiw, who passed away Nov. 2, 2006. They were married Dec. 29, 1951. He was also preceded by an infant son, Raymond Allen Luchkiw; a grandson, Todd Joseph Wilson; seven brothers: Steve, John, Pete, Andy, Bill, Basil and Alex; and three sisters: Olga, Anne and Kathryn.
