Jay Lee Rhoades
Jay Lee Rhoades, 40, of Spencerport, N.Y., formerly of Cecil Township, Pa., died Oct. 11 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.
He was born April 17, 1976, in Kingston, Pa., the son of Jay Lee Rhoades of Evans City and Patricia Stahovic of Spencerport, N.Y.
Mr. Rhoades attended school at Canon-McMillan School District in Pennsylvania.
He enjoyed fishing in the pond of his aunt and uncle, Shane and Margie, in Pennsylvania and spending time with friends. He had a passion for the culinary arts, even attending the Pittsburgh Culinary Institute.
Mr. Rhoades fought colon-rectal cancer for 29 months, living his life every day with hope, kindness and optimism. Cancer may have ravaged his body, but it never dampened his spirit.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his paternal grandmother, Joanne McDonald Rhoades of Evans City; his uncle, Shane (Margie) Rhoades of Evans City; his aunt, Kelley Rhoades Baron of State College, Pa.; his younger brother, Cody Rhoades; his niece, Serafine Rhoades of Pennsylvania; his stepfather, Ryan Joyce of Cecil Township, Pa.; and two maternal uncles, Ray (Peg) Stahovic and Ralph Stahovic of Rochester, N.Y.; and his maternal aunt, Cathy Stahovic of Rochester, N.Y.
Deceased are his grandparents, Jerry Lee Rhoades and Raymond and Donna Gazzo Stahovic.
RHOADES — A memorial service for Jay Lee Rhoades, who died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Faith Chapel Community Church, 9 Lawrence St., Lawrence, Pa., with the Rev. James O'Brien officiating.
