Betty Lou McCandless
Betty Lou McCandless, 83, of Boyers passed away on her birthday, Thursday, at her son's home.
Betty was born Feb. 2, 1934, in West Monterey, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Jay Holliday and the late Nellie Belle Wyant Holliday. Betty attended the Parker High School. She was a certified nursing assistant and retired at the Orchard Manor after 28 years of service. Betty was a member of the Boyers United Methodist Church. She also worked for Meals on Wheels, was a member of the Over 50 Club, volunteered at the Annisville Thrift Store and was a union steward with the AFL-CIO while working at Orchard Manor.
Betty is survived by three daughters, Pamela (Clifford “Nick”) McCarl of Boyers, Christine (Joseph) DeMatteis of Boyers and Cynthia (Paul) Dallos of Chesapeake, Va.; two sons, Rick (Bonnie) McCandless of Harrisville and Rod (Angie) McCandless of Boyers; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Richard McCandless, who died Sept. 9, 2003; one grandson; four brothers; and two sisters.
MCCANDLESS — Friends of Betty Lou McCandless, who died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, and from 10 to 11 p.m. Monday at the Boyers Methodist Church.Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
