SOMERSET, Pa. — A 10-year-old girl was killed in bed by a tree that fell on her house this morning during severe thunderstorms in southwestern Pennsylvania.

Somerset County Coroner Wallace Miller said that state police are investigating the girl’s death, but it is considered “weather-related.”

Police have yet to release the girl’s name, but say she was killed just before 7 a.m. in her Somerset Township home, about 60 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

State police in Somerset say they have no other information to report.
