PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Butler native Rob McClellan and Sonny Skinner of Sylvester, Ga., finished the PGA Senior-Junior Championship in second place, one stroke off the pace, after shooting a 67 Thursday.

The duo entered the final round with the lead.

Frank Bensel of Jupiter, Fla., and Kevin Morris of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., won the event thanks to an 11-under 61 in the final round.

McClellan had three birdies on the front nine, but he and Skinner both had costly bogeys on the par-5 17th hole.

This was the third PGA Senior-Junior championship for the Bensel-Morris team.

The Butler County Community College men's basketball team slipped to 0-11 Wednesday with a 127-50 loss at Community College of Beaver County.John Tyler scored 16 points for the Pioneers while Antawane Davis and Alex McDeavitt netted 12 each.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University senior safety Brandon Watters has been named first team All-America by the Don Hansen Football Committee.Senior wide receiver Devin Goda earned honorable mention honors.Watters had a school-record tying eight interceptions this season and his career total of 14 is third on The Rock's all-time list.Goda had 75 catches for 1,028 yards and 11 touchdowns last fall.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Slippery Rock University's All Girl cheerleading squad finished runner-up in the 2012 Universal Cheerleaders Association and Universal Dance Association national championships recently at the Walt Disney World Resort.West Georgia won the Division II national title.SRU won the Division II All Girl crown in 2010 and finished runner-up last year.<B></B>

SALT LAKE CITY — Canadian freestyle skier Sarah Burke died nine days after crashing at the bottom of the superpipe during a training run in Utah. She was 29.Burke was injured Jan. 10.Tests revealed Burke sustained “irreversible damage to her brain due to lack of oxygen and blood after cardiac arrest,” according to a statement released by Burke's publicist on behalf of her family.Burke was a four-time Winter X Games champion.

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Indians pitcher Fausto Carmona was arrested for allegedly using a false identity in the Dominican Republic, where officials are contesting his real name and birthdate.
