Adams man accused of threatening sister

ADAMS TWP — A man in the Butler County Prison is accused of assaulting and threatening to kill his sister over inheritance.

Jonas Hall, 47, was arrested after an incident in his garage on Adams Pointe Boulevard May 19.

Following his arrest, he was taken to the psychiatric facility at Butler Memorial Hospital, but was released and arraigned Thursday.

On Tuesday, he waived to court two counts of misdemeanor terroristic threats, three counts of misdemeanor simple assault, two counts of disorderly conduct, one count of misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person and one count of harassment.

Police responded to the apartment building at 5:04 p.m. May 19 after a report of a man holding a knife to his sister’s throat, according to the criminal complaint filed by Adams police officer Mandy Mudrick.

According to the police report, Mudrick found Hall and the two victims, Bridget Hall and Laura Vickless, in the garage. Jonas Hall was holding a 13-inch kitchen knife, which Mudrick told him to drop.

She instructed him to get down on his knees and she then held him at gunpoint with his hands behind his head until backup arrived and he was placed in custody.

Quality EMS treated Bridget Hall for abrasions on her neck and jaw and swelling on her face.

Hall allegedly told police that he was upset because Bridget Hall had not given him his half of the money she got after their parents’ death.

When the women arrived at his home that day, he screamed at them, calling Bridget Hall a liar and telling Vickless to leave.

When he allegedly started choking and assaulting his sister, Vickless called 911. She told police that she had tried to pull Hall off his sister and he advanced on her with the knife, but then turned back to his sister. Vickless was not injured.

Hall is in the prison on $15,000 bail.
