Strutt promoted to Butler superintendent

BUTLER TWP — Mike Strutt is the new superintendent of the Butler School District,

The school board Monday night named Strutt superintendent effective July 1.

Strutt has been the substitute superintendent since Superintendent Ed Fink took a medical leave for back surgery in March. Last month, Fink told the board he would retire June 30.

Strutt will be paid $153,207 for his first year of a three-year contract.

Most board members said they believe Strutt can provide a seamless transition between Fink’s leadership and his own.

Don Pringle, board president, said Strutt would not “miss a beat.”

Strutt began working in the district in 1989, when he was prinicpal of Butler Intermediate High School. He held that position until 1994 when he became acting assistant superintendent.

A year later, he was named assistant superintendent, a position he has had since.

Strutt told the board he plans to stay only for three years as superintendent.
