To mark its 75th anniversary, the Associated Artists of Butler County has begun planning a gala celebration and art exhibit "AABC Art Through the Ages" to be held in October.

Original artwork from past presidents and AABC member artists over the years, as well as other memorabilia retrieved by the members, is being collected for the exhibit.

The planning committee consists of Marilyn Tynan and Paul Scanlon (co-chairs), Aryl Bashline, Mary Bauer, Ralph D'Antonio, Stephen Harding, Lisa Krack, Millie McElhinney, Marise Martin, Jane Nienstadt, "Uncle Mike" Rehm, Jane Rittelmann, Carolyn Rottman, Trista Sholes, Sarah Sutton, Cathy Tack, Betty Vogel, Ed Wadding, Marcia Walls and Rachael Weifling.

A planning meeting is set for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St.

The 75th anniversary celebration and art exhibit is planned for Oct. 17.

Other upcoming events include "South Beach Art Exhibit" Aug. 21 to Sept. 4, Nature & Wildlife Exhibit opening Sept. 11, "AABC Art Through the Ages" celebration Oct. 17, Art of Horror Exhibit opening Oct. 23 in the Underground Gallery, and the Annual Holiday Show & Sale opening Nov. 20.

The Art Center will be the site of live musical performances on Dec. 31 for the Ring in the Arts New Year's Eve celebration.
