Naomi D. LaRosa
Naomi Donaldson LaRosa, 79, of Slippery Rock passed away Friday at Magee Women's Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born Aug. 19, 1932, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Bryon C. Jordan and Elma L. Miller Jordan, who are deceased.
She attended Karns City High School.
Naomi was married to Ward Donaldson from July 11, 1949, until he passed away Nov. 26, 2006. She then married Victor LaRosa on July 3, 2010, who survives her.
Naomi was employed at Thompson Market in Boyers for many years and sold Home Interiors throughout the area for years. She also managed the cosmetics department in Gaylord.
She was a lifelong member of the Boyers United Methodist Church. Naomi was very active in the Residents Club in the Sprucewood Commons Organization, having held many different offices.
Naomi's home cooking for everyone from the Commons will be dearly missed. She was known for her heart of gold and her willingness to always help when needed.
She attended the Senior Center in Slippery Rock also.
Naomi was a very active reader, completing a book a day was not unusual for her. She loved singing hymns and Christian music. Being with her family also was very important to her. She loved the company and just having everyone together.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her five children, Deborah Smith of Franklin, Lori Buckley and her companion, Jay Hughes, of Florida, Bruce Donaldson and his fiance, Peggy Cunningham, of Florida, the Rev. Gary Donaldson and his wife, Gail, of Alum Bank, and Barry Donaldson and his partner, Donnie Sims, of Florida.
She also is survived by two sisters, Mabel L. Hagney of Florida and Elma A. Cumberland and her husband, Dale, of North Washington; a brother, Lloyd C. Miller and his wife, Lorraine, of Apollo, Pa.; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and four step-grandchildren.
Her stepchildren who survive her are Victor LaRosa and his wife, Sue, of Ohio, Joe LaRosa of Heritage, Patty McElroy and her husband, Eric, of Grove City, Kathy Chalenor and her husband, Steve, of Stoneboro, and James LaRosa and his wife, Mary Ann, of Boyers.
Several foster children and their children also survive.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Eric S. Donaldson, on Sept. 6, 2006, and her granddaughter, Courtney Donaldson, who passed away Jan. 1, 2012.
<B>LAROSA</B> — The family of Naomi Donaldson LaRosa, 79, of Slippery Rock, who passed away Friday Jan. 13, 2012, will receive friends at the <B>LARRY E. MCKINLEY FUNERAL HOME</B>, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A funeral service will be at the Boyers Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Thursday with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.Dr. John Seth, minister of the Galloway Methodist Church, Cooperstown, will officiate.
