LILBURN, Ga. — A 15-year-old Butler County teen died Wednesday in a dirt bike accident in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

Lilburn police Capt. Thomas Bardugon told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution he believes Austin J. Zwigart of Valencia fell off his dirt bike while trying to cross a small creek.

Bardugon said Zwigart’s dirt bike hit a sudden drop, causing the teen to crash into an embankment.

Authorities believe the teen may have broken his neck. He died before emergency responders arrived.

Zwigart was an 8th grade student at Mars Middle School, and he was an avid dirt bike rider.

He was the son of Denise J. Frank Zwigart of Butler and Robert P. Zwigart of Valencia.

The McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home in Mars is handling the funeral arrangements.
