Sunnyview's net loss cut in half from 2008 to 2009
BUTLER TWP — The annual net loss for Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was cut in half from 2008 to 2009.
In the internal audit prepared by the office of county Controller Jack McMillin, the 2009 loss was $562,229.
Sunnyview's net loss exceeded $1 million in both 2007 and 2008.
Commissioner Dale Pinkerton, board chairman, said at a Sunnyview board meeting today the final number shows efforts to cut costs were successful.
He pointed out the county expects more savings with the outsourcing of the laundry department this year.
"It could come down even more," Pinkerton said.
The county commissioners in 2009 reviewed whether the nursing home should be sold due to its annual deficit.
In February, the commissioners opted to keep Sunnyview county-owned for now based on the estimated 2009 loss.
