Sex offender waives hearing, heads to trial for corruption
SLIPPERY ROCK — A registered sex offender is headed for court on charges he exposed himself to an 11-year-old girl on New Year's Eve 2015 in Muddy Creek Township.
Mac A. Lieberman, 31, of suburban Pittsburgh on Wednesday waived his preliminary hearing at the office of District Judge William O'Donnell in Slippery Rock. He is free on bail.
He is charged with a felony count of corruption of minors and misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and open lewdness.
State police arrested Lieberman last week after the alleged victim during a July 2 forensic interview accused him of exposing himself to her Dec. 31, 2015, at a home on East Portersville Road, according to court documents.
Police said the defendant was visiting the home with his girlfriend at the time. The incident allegedly happened in the home's computer room where the girl took Lieberman to hang up his coat.
At Wednesday's court proceedings, O'Donnell agreed to a bail reduction for the defendant from $100,000 to $25,000. Lieberman, who had been in the Butler County Prison since July 6, posted bail later that day and was released.
He was placed on the Megan's Law registry, court records showed, following a felony conviction Jan. 25, 2016, for possession of child pornography in Allegheny County.
Lieberman is listed on the state police Megan's Law website as a Tier 1 offender, which means he is required to register his personal information, including his address and employment, for 15 years.
His attorney did not return a telephone call Thursday.
