John Maire Sr.
John F. Maire Sr., 89, of Butler, passed away, Tuesday morning, May 24, 2022, in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Born Sept. 16, 1932, in Butler, he was a son of the late Victor Maire and Katie (Dymitryk) Maire.
John was retired from the Armco Steel Plant in Butler, where he worked as a crane operator and then a carpenter for more than 30 years.
He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the Butler Elks Club. He had been a Midget League football coach for 20 years, and loved to dance.
Surviving are his children, Wally (Sue Suparate) Maire of Florida, Tina (Jim) Morrison of Florida, and Rich (Lucy) Maire of Butler; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Joan (Bowser) Maire, whom he married June 7, 1951, and who passed away April 8, 2017; his son, John Maire; his brother, Victor Maire; and infant twin siblings.
MAIRE — Friends of John F. Maire Sr., who died Tuesday, May 24, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler. The Rev. John Baver will officiate.
