Low Income Energy Assistance Program extends deadline
The Department of Human Services extended the deadline for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program through June 17 for the 2021-22 season.
LIHEAP is designed to help families with low incomes pay for their heating bills in the form of cash grants.
Grants are one-time payments that can range from $500 to $1,500 depending on household size, fuel type and income. These grants do not need to be repaid.
The income limit for a household of one is $19,320 and $6,810 for each additional person.
Those experiencing a heating crisis may be eligible for additional benefits through the crisis program such as broken heating equipment or leaking lines.
Applications can be found at www.compass.state.pa.us/compass.web/Public/CMPHome or by the LIHEAP hotline, which can be reached at 1-866-857-7095 Monday through Friday.
