Butler County Commissioner Jim Eckstein is being sued by another commissioner for alleged defamation.

In a civil complaint filed in county court Tuesday, Commissioner Dale Pinkerton is seeking more than $35,000 in damages from Eckstein for alleged defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress and false light.

According to the complaint, Eckstein falsely accused Pinkerton of giving the county personnel director a 20 percent pay hike in return for her husband, who is a state trooper, getting him out of a driving under the influence charge.
