Fire damages house in Middlesex Twp

MIDDLESEX TWP — No one was injured early Saturday morning when a house on Browns Hill Road caught fire.

More than 50 firefighters from multiple departments responded to the house in the 300-block of the road shortly after 5 a.m.

Middlesex Fire Chief Dave Metz said at the scene that both occupants escaped without harm.

A neighbor said the home is owned by David Webb.

The bottom half of the home is brick while the second floor has vinyl siding. The two stories are atop a garage on the bottom.

Smoke was still pouring out of the roof of the home shortly after 7 a.m.

Metz said at that time that firefighters were working to extinguish the last of the fire.

“We still have some flames in the back part of the structure,” he said.

The cause of the fire was unknown pending an investigation.

The Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, which is on the same road as the house about a mile away, was assisted by Saxonburg, Adams Area, Penn Township, Richland, and West Deer volunteer fire departments and Quality Ambulance.
